As equipes da Associação dos Amigos do Basquete de Formiga marcaram presença no Festival de Basquete da Escola Estadual Joaquim Nabuco, no domingo (20), em Divinópolis.
Cinco equipes representaram o município de Formiga: duas na categoria infantil, uma na juvenil, uma no sub-22 e uma na categoria adulto.
Além de Formiga, o festival contou com a participação de equipes das cidades de Pitangui, Nova Serrana, Lagoa da Prata e Divinópolis.
O evento foi promovido pelo professor formiguense Vander Martins Carvalho, que já dirigiu equipes em diversas cidades da região e hoje reside em Divinópolis.
De acordo com o treinador das equipes formiguenses, Geraldo Magela (Higuita), o festival é uma forma de divulgar e promover a modalidade. O objetivo é realizar o maior número de jogos possível entre as equipes participantes de uma forma amistosa, não visando o lado competitivo, mas sim a integração entre os participantes.
